Powell's Flight Construction promises a lighter, stiffer deck that lasts longer. With only 5 instead of the usual 7 layers of maple wood that are bonded together with epoxy glue, Flight Decks are significantly thinner and lighter than conventional boards. A thin carbon fiber layer is attached to the top and bottom, which provides additional stability.
In tests conducted by Powell, Flight Decks are more than 2x more break-resistant than conventional 7-layer decks
