Nidecker Snowboard Gamma

The Biomimicry series continues to evolve. The Gamma is the latest product of our engineers' obsession with studying the natural world to find new ways to improve snowboarding, and with this completely unique looking board they've outdone themselves once again.We used asymmetry to create more grip, similar to the way alpine animals use slightly offset paws to gracefully negotiate the ridgelines of mountain terrain. While the Gamma is a true twin from nose to tail, the heel and toe edges are shaped differently. This creates the unequal precision when turning on each edge. The heel sidecut of the Gamma is noticeably tighter than the toe sidecut, meaning it's much easier to maintain control during frontside turns and carves.

The twin shape is a clue to the Gamma's intentions: we designed this board for those who can't resist launching tricks on every natural feature in their path. It's fun to pick sideshots on groomers or do freestyle maneuvers in soft slush or deep powder. With that in mind, we used the Evolution Spoon Nose from the Alpha and Beta, but for the first time we've applied the same 3D shape with its rolling edge-to-edge feel to the tail. This provides the same smooth turns and float in the front end, but also a looser ride on the flats that complements the razor-sharp precision on the edge. Paired with our tested Camrock profile, Master Core, POP Carbon and N-7000 base, it's a lot of fun to let loose and get creative wherever you are on the mountain - because that's exactly what the Gamma is: a creative shape, made for creative riders.
