Powell's Flight Construction promises a lighter, stiffer deck that lasts longer. With only 5 instead of the usual 7 layers of maple wood that are connected with epoxy glue, flight decks are significantly thinner and lighter than conventional boards. A thin layer of carbon fiber is attached to the top and bottom, which provides additional stability.
In the tests carried out by Powell, flight decks are more than twice as unbreakable as conventional 7-layer decks
